The 4th Annual "Celebrate the Craft" will take place at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, a Five-Diamond resort in La Jolla, California. On Sunday, October 15th, 2006, San Diego's top chefs will gather with farmers, ranchers, and vintners to present outstanding examples of culinary art and innovative food preparation which spotlight California's bounty. Attendees will taste their way through the vast array of premium food products available throughout the state.
A festive picnic-style event features food demonstration and stations of growers, vintners, and suppliers. At 6:00pm, a dinner will be prepared by participating chefs. "Celebrate the Craft" is a delight for anyone eager for food prepared with natural ingredients and authentic care.

Slow Food San Diego will present its second annual "Taste of Slow Food" on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Guests will experience unique culinary creations prepared by twelve of San Diego's finest chefs using fresh seasonal, organic produce grown by local farmers. Orfila’s own winemaker extraordinaire, Leon Santoro, voted California's 2003 Winemaker of the Year, will give a special guided tour of the vineyards to VIP guests.
Attendees will taste their way through exquisite food and beverage stations, browse educational venues and meet San Diego's culinary experts. The theme of the event is "Monet’s Table" and includes a silent auction of superb food related fine art and other donated upscale gifts. A special feature that night will be a performance of opera and popular selections by renowned tenor Daniel Hendrick, who has thrilled audiences around the world with his soaring notes and rich powerful voice.

The event will benefit San Pasqual Academy, an alternative residential and education option for San Diego County foster teens who have been shuffled through the foster care system. Slow Food is committed to awakening young people to the enjoyment and health benefits of quality foods and the principles of land stewardship through the Slow Food in Schools program. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to transform San Pasqual Academy's gardens into organic, sustainable farming. Growing food is positive project for these abandoned teens; it can instill a sense of accomplishment and success that Slow Food hopes will last a lifetime.
